US President Donald Trump appeared to foreshadow a major strike against Iran in a highly charged message posted on his Truth Social platform, declaring: “Watch what happens today to these crazy thugs.”

In the post, Trump framed the move as part of a broader effort to dismantle what he described as Iran’s “terrorist regime”.

“They have been killing innocent people all over the world for 47 years, and now I, as the 47th President of the United States of America, am killing them. What a great honour it is to do so,” he wrote.

The US president also claimed that American actions have already inflicted decisive damage on Iran’s military capabilities.

“We are completely destroying Iran’s terrorist regime – militarily, economically and in every other way. Yet if you read the failing New York Times, you would wrongly think that we are not winning,” Trump wrote.

He added that Iran’s military assets had been neutralised, asserting that “its navy has disappeared, its air force no longer exists, its missiles, drones and everything else have been destroyed, and its leaders have vanished from the face of the earth.”

Trump’s remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, as military developments and political rhetoric between Washington, Tehran and regional actors continue to intensify.
