The planned secondment of Civil Defence Commander Maria Papa to the Audit Office of the Republic of Cyprus has been confirmed by competent sources, who stress that the move is linked to administrative needs between the two services.

Responding to questions from Cyprus News Agency, sources noted that the decision was not taken at the last minute but had been under discussion for several days.

According to the same sources, the secondment was arranged following coordination between the Civil Defence and the Audit Office to address operational and administrative requirements within both organisations.

However, the process still requires approval from the Public Service Commission, which has the final authority on the matter. For this reason, officials stress that the transfer should not yet be considered final.

If the secondment is ultimately approved, another officer from the Civil Defence department is expected to assume acting duties as commander, according to the same sources.
