The foreign ministry is taking all the necessary steps and proceeding with representations to UNFICYP following yet anoher incident in the Deneia buffer zone, involving a Turkish occupation army soldier in a vehicle approaching a farmer cultivating his field and ultimately forcing him to leave the area.
Spokesman Constandinos Letympiotis told the Cyprus News Agency that the government was working towards restoring access to farmland and preventing any violations of the buffer zone status quo in accordance with relevant Security Council resolutions and the UNFICYP mandate.
Letympiotis added that the situation is being closely monitored, noting that the Turkish occupation army's unacceptable actions are 'questioning the status of the buffer zone and looking to create de facto situations in violation of international law and relevant Security Council resolutions'.
He further stressed that Nicosia will continue its actions in a calm, determined manner, based on international law.
