Six Turkish F-16 Jets and Air Defence System Deployed in the North

Turkish defence ministry confirms the deployment as images show the aircraft arriving at Ercan airport

Photographs published by the Turkish Cypriot press show six Turkish F-16 fighter jets arriving in the north of Cyprus on Monday morning.

According to available information, the aircraft will be stationed in a specially designated area within Ercan airport.

Air defence system also deployed

Turkey’s defence ministry also announced that an air defence system has been deployed alongside the fighter jets.

In a statement, the ministry said that additional measures could be taken if deemed necessary.

The deployment comes amid heightened regional tensions, although officials did not provide further details regarding the duration of the presence of the aircraft.

The date for the return of the aircraft to Turkey has not been announced.
