The “Siren,” which took part in the flotilla that tried to break the Gaza naval blockade, docked at Kato Paphos around 17:00 on Friday and is expected to depart Saturday at about 17:00, General Manager of the Cyprus Ports Authority Anthimos Christodoulides told CNA. All vessel documents and certificates were examined and found valid. After taking on fuel and water, the ship requested, and received, permission from the competent authorities to set sail this afternoon.
Crew changes and medical checks
An officer of the Ports Authority said eight people were on board: five EU citizens (including from the UK and Ireland) and three from third countries. Minor repairs were carried out by a Canadian engineer travelling with the group. Some passengers asked to disembark and leave Cyprus, prompting a crew change with others due to arrive and board. Food, water, electricity and fuel were supplied. Two crew members received first aid from an ambulance team; no hospitalisation was required.
Second vessel relocates to Ayia Napa
A second flotilla boat, the “Summertime Jong,” which docked in Larnaca on Thursday night, has relocated to Ayia Napa marina. Marina management told CNA the vessel left Larnaca on Friday afternoon (3 October) and will remain in Ayia Napa for an unspecified period. According to CNA sources, the move was made due to the expected arrival of large commercial ships at Larnaca port. The “Summertime Jong” had originally requested to dock in Larnaca while in Cyprus’ territorial waters because two people on board had chronic health issues. They were assessed by ambulance staff; hospital admission was deemed unnecessary. Basic provisions, including food and water, were supplied.
