Authorities arrested three individuals, one of them a minor, following an assault with grievous bodily harm against a pupil and his dad at the Platy Aglantzia high school in Nicosia last Sunday, causing strong reaction by parents, who called on the state to take action, accusing Syrian delinquent gangs of being behind the violence.

The boy suffered fractures to his head and arm, while the father, an attorney, had fractured fingers after he was assaulted by two pupils and the father of the alleged perpetrator.

A 53-year-old man, and a teenager, 18, were charged in writing and released, to appear later before the Nicosia district court.

They were declared persons of interest and following court orders, were detained in connection with the assaults, committed on October 26th, during an evening school function.

A 16-year-old was also arrested and police followed due process, in accordance with relevant minors legislation.
