Seven Arrested as Police Step Up Crime Prevention Operations

Over 370 alcohol tests were carried out, leading to 49 drivers being reported for driving under the influence

Police carried out targeted crime prevention operations across the country during the night, resulting in the arrest of seven people.

The actions were part of a wider effort to protect citizens, maintain public order, and prevent serious criminal activity.

In Limassol, two people were arrested for breaking into a building with intent to steal. Two others were arrested for vehicle and property theft, and one person was detained for illegal residence in Cyprus.

In Nicosia, one person was arrested for illegal residence. In Paphos, a person was detained for disobeying a court order.

Police also carried out 39 inspections of premises to prevent and address illegal activity. Four violations were recorded, including issues with business licences, alcohol sales, and noise regulations.

On the roads, officers conducted more than 800 checks. This resulted in over 122 traffic offences, including 38 cases of speeding.

Authorities said the operations are part of a continuous, nationwide plan to strengthen police presence, conduct targeted checks, and act quickly to prevent crime.
