Landslides on Troodos Roads, Icy Conditions Make Driving Hazardous

Police urge drivers to exercise caution due to falling rocks and frost

Rockfalls and landslides involving soil and debris have been recorded on roads in the Troodos Mountains, prompting police to advise drivers to exercise heightened caution.

In a statement, police said that landslides involving rocks and large volumes of earth occurred on thePedoulas–Kykkos–KambosKykkos–Tsakkistra and Kambos–Orkonta–Kato Pyrgos road network.

At the same time, according to police, frost formed around 6.30am, rendering road surfaces dangerously slippery on the Prodromos–LemythouProdromos–PlatresKakopetria–Pinewood–Pedoulas and Kakopetria–Karvounas roads.

Police are calling on all motorists travelling on the road network to remain vigilant, comply with the Highway Code and observe all traffic signs, in order to avoid road collisions.
