As part of its ongoing commitment to animal welfare and protection, the Paralimni–Deryneia Municipality has proceeded with the installation of additional specially designed feeding shelters for stray cats at selected locations across the area.
The move reflects the municipality’s broader strategy to support the humane care of stray animals in a structured and environmentally responsible manner.
Where the shelters have been placed
According to the municipal announcement, the feeding shelters have been installed at the following locations:
- Paralimni Municipal Cemetery
- Near the Lidl supermarket in Paralimni
- Close to the King Jason Hotel in Protaras
- In the Pernera area
The selected sites were chosen to ensure accessibility for the animals while minimising disruption to residents and visitors.
A policy rooted in responsibility and respect
The municipality notes that the initiative is part of its animal-friendly policy and aims to care for stray animals in a way that respects public spaces, the environment and citizens’ quality of life. Properly designated feeding points help prevent uncontrolled feeding and contribute to cleaner, more orderly communal areas.

Call for public cooperation
Paralimni–Deryneia Municipality is calling on residents to demonstrate responsibility and respect by protecting the feeding shelters, avoiding their relocation or damage, and helping to maintain cleanliness in the surrounding areas.
As highlighted in the statement, animal welfare is described as a key indicator of cultural maturity and social sensitivity. With collective cooperation, the municipality stresses, it is possible to make a meaningful difference for the benefit of both animals and the wider community.
