The supply of drinking water will be reduced from Tuesday 17 to Thursday 19 February 2026 in the districts of Larnaca, Nicosia and Famagusta, the Water Development Department (WDD) has announced.

According to the announcement, the reduction is due to scheduled maintenance work at the Dhekelia Desalination Plant, which forms part of the regular upkeep of the facilities.

The WDD stated that, in cooperation with all relevant authorities, every effort will be made to manage the available water resources efficiently, aiming to meet the water supply needs of the three districts as fully as possible.

At the same time, the public is urged to limit water use to the absolute minimum during this period. Effective water use will contribute significantly to addressing the drought conditions affecting the area.

The WDD called on the public to limit water use to what is strictly necessary and avoid any unnecessary consumption. Responsible and prudent use of water is essential for the collective effort to ensure the sufficiency of water resources.

The department thanks the public for their understanding and cooperation and apologises for any inconvenience that may arise.
