An organised burglary ring with links across Cyprus, Greece and Georgia is believed to be behind more than 40 break-ins targeting luxury homes and apartments in Limassol. The group, consisting of Georgian nationals, operated mainly in the areas of Germasogeia, Agios Athanasios and Mesa Geitonia. Authorities have already linked the suspects to at least ten cases, while victims continue to be called daily to Limassol police headquarters to identify stolen property.

Suspects remanded as investigation expands

The Limassol District Court has extended the detention of three suspects, aged 49, 48 and 39, for a further eight days. They have also been re-arrested in connection with additional offences. According to complaints filed so far, the group stole high-value jewellery, gold items, luxury watches, large sums of cash and designer handbags. The total value of the stolen goods is estimated to exceed €7 million, although the final figure may change as investigations continue and more items are identified. Some of the stolen property has already been located in two apartments, one in Limassol and another in Nicosia. Evidence also suggests that the items were being sent abroad to specific recipients.

Shipment traced to Thessaloniki

During searches at an apartment used by the suspects in Cyprus, police discovered a shipping document linked to a parcel sent to Thessaloniki. Further investigation revealed that the shipment was part of a container located at the port of Thessaloniki. In coordination with Greek authorities, the container has been secured, with its contents believed to form part of the stolen goods.

According to police, the suspects packaged stolen items and sent them via courier services to Thessaloniki, from where they were transported through various channels to their final destination in Georgia, the suspects’ country of origin. Authorities also have testimony indicating that the parcels were labelled as containing toys and sports equipment.

Burglary tools delivered while suspect in custody

While the three suspects remain in custody, one of them received a text message on his mobile phone, which he had voluntarily handed over to authorities, instructing him to collect a parcel from a courier company. When police collected the package, they found specialised burglary tools, including master keys and lock clones designed to enable break-ins without visible signs of forced entry. Investigators believe the tools were sent by accomplices abroad, specifically from Greece, who are now being sought in cooperation with Greek authorities.
