Heightened security measures and extensive traffic arrangements will be in place on 23 and 24 April 2026 due to the Informal Meeting of European Union Heads of State, held under Cyprus’ Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Police said the measures will affect traffic flow in parts of the Nicosia, Larnaca and Famagusta districts, with intermittent, short-term road closures expected on both urban roads and key motorways, including the Nicosia–Larnaca and Larnaca–Ayia Napa routes.

On Thursday, 23 April, from 16:00 to 23:00, sections of Agia Thekla Avenue and surrounding roads near Ayia Napa Marina will be closed.

On Friday, 24 April, from 07:30 to 18:00, a section of Aglantzia Avenue in Nicosia will remain closed, from the traffic lights near Aluminium Tower to the Academy roundabout, due to activities at the Conference Centre.

Police are urging the public to exercise patience and comply with temporary traffic measures, as well as instructions from officers on duty, to ensure safe and smooth movement during the summit.
