A yellow weather warning issued by the Department of Meteorology is in effect from 7.00 pm on Sunday until 8.00 am on Monday.
The warning αφορά a combination of rainfall, isolated thunderstorms and strong to gale‑force winds that will affect the island, with the most significant impact expected in coastal areas and windward mountainous regions.

Low pressure and a relatively cold air mass are temporarily affecting the area, while weak low pressure is expected from Tuesday onwards.
Today, the weather will be cloudy with localised rain and isolated thunderstorms, mainly over the western half of the island. Gradual improvement is expected during the afternoon. Hail may occur during thunderstorms, while snowfall is expected on the highest peaks of Troodos.
Winds will blow southwest to northwest, initially strong to very strong inland at force 5 to 6, and up to near gale force along the coasts at force 7, with gusts locally reaching force 8 to 9. Winds will gradually ease by the afternoon to strong or very strong, at force 5 to 6. The sea will be rough.
Temperatures will rise to 18 degrees inland, around 19 degrees on the coasts and 8 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight, periods of locally increased cloud are expected, possibly producing isolated showers. Winds will remain southwest to northwest, light to moderate at force 3 to 4. The sea will be rough, and locally very rough early on.
Temperatures will fall to 8 degrees inland, 13 on the west coast, around 11 on the remaining coasts and 3 degrees in the higher mountains, where local frost is expected.
On Tuesday, conditions will be partly cloudy at times, with isolated showers after midday, mainly in mountainous and southeastern areas. On Wednesday, locally increased cloud may bring isolated afternoon showers, mainly over mountainous regions. On Thursday, the weather will be mainly clear.
Temperatures will rise slightly on Tuesday and more noticeably by Thursday, returning to near average seasonal values.
Snow depth at Chionistra at the time of issue was 14 centimetres.
