adidas Launches 'Backyard Legends' Ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026™

The new campaign brings football icons and global stars together to celebrate free play and the joy of the game.

adidas has unveiled Backyard Legends, a global campaign ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, centred on the idea that legends are born wherever football is played, from neighbourhood pitches to the world’s biggest stage.

The centrepiece is a five‑minute film starring Academy Award nominee Timothée Chalamet alongside football and cultural icons including Lionel Messi, Bad Bunny, Lamine Yamal, Jude Bellingham and Trinity Rodman, with cameo appearances by Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham and Alessandro Del Piero. The story follows Chalamet as he assembles a team to challenge a mythical local trio whose dominance has endured for generations.

Set against a nostalgic 1990s backdrop, the film blends street football culture with contemporary visuals, reinforcing adidas’ You Got This message of confidence, creativity and playing without pressure. The campaign highlights adidas’ role at the FIFA World Cup 2026™, where it will serve as Official Match Ball provider and kit supplier to 14 national teams.
