Employment Up 2% in Cyprus With Working Hours Rising 3.3%

Total employment reached 519,116 people in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to new data from the Statistical Service.

Employment in Cyprus increased by 2 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the same period a year earlier, according to figures published on Friday by the Statistical Service.

The total number of people employed during the period is estimated at 519,116. Of these, 466,265 were employees while 52,851 were self-employed.

Growth across key sectors

Compared with the fourth quarter of 2024, overall employment rose by 2 per cent.

The most significant percentage increases were recorded in the sectors of wholesale and retail trade, including the repair of motor vehicles, as well as in construction and manufacturing.

Working hours also increase

Actual working hours in the fourth quarter of 2025 are estimated at 244,170 thousand hours, representing an increase of 3.3 per cent compared with the same quarter of 2024.

The largest percentage increases in working hours were also recorded in wholesale and retail trade, motor vehicle repair, construction and manufacturing.
