The free Famagusta region becomes Cyprus’s first tourist destination to deploy an AI chatbot for visitors. Backed by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and developed by RevitUp, the assistant guides, informs and supports travellers in simple, immediate ways.

The AI assistant provides reliable, real-time information from the destination, not just generic web results. It suggests activities, sights, beaches, events and routes based on user preferences, and offers practical details such as museum hours, transport options and Google Maps directions. It supports 194 languages and functions like a personal guide.

Where to access it

The assistant is available on the official site visitfamagusta.com.cy and directly at ai.visitfamagusta.com.cy. The local tourism company notes that AI is changing how travellers discover destinations, moving from “smart devices” to intelligent helpers that understand, learn and adapt to each visitor.

Famagusta’s tourism body highlights existing tools that complement the AI rollout: the official website, a mobile app and 360-degree virtual tours across the district’s landmarks.

Winter campaign and “Endless Sun”

A new online awareness campaign is being prepared for domestic tourism, spotlighting experiences, activities, accommodation and businesses that will remain open through winter across the free Famagusta area. On Monday 17 November, the “Endless Sun” programme starts with activities held three times a week in the district’s inland communities. The initiative, also run last year, targets both foreign and local visitors, especially families.

An eye-catching 160-metre floor mural now decorates the heart of Protaras’s tourist zone, adding a fresh artistic landmark and photo spot for residents and visitors. The piece links the main hotel strip to the parallel road leading to parking areas, creating a vivid wayfinding path into the commercial and tourist centre. According to the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia, the vibrant colours and geometric patterns refresh the area’s look and reinforce Protaras’s modern, creative identity. The artwork was created by artist Christos Kyriakou.
