US President Donald Trump said the United States had achieved a “total and complete victory” after agreeing to a two-week ceasefire with Iran.
Speaking to Agence France-Presse, Trump expressed certainty about the outcome. “Total and complete victory. 100 percent. No question about it,” he said in a brief phone call.
He added that Washington had received a 10-point proposal from Iran, describing it as “a workable basis on which to negotiate”.
Trump also insisted that Iran’s nuclear material would be addressed as part of any agreement. “That will be perfectly taken care of, or I wouldn’t have settled,” he said, without providing further details.
Asked about earlier warnings of potential strikes on Iranian infrastructure if the deal collapsed, Trump declined to elaborate, saying only: “You’re going to have to see.”
The White House also framed the development as a success. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the ceasefire marked a victory for the United States under Trump’s leadership.
Formal negotiations between the two sides have yet to begin, with talks expected on Friday in Islamabad.
