Several people are reported to have been injured following a head on collision between two trains in Denmark, according to local emergency services.

Reuters reported that the incident occurred near Hillerod, north of Copenhagen, when two local trains collided under circumstances that remain unclear.

A fire service spokesperson said that passengers were injured, though no details have been released about the number or the severity of the injuries. All passengers have been evacuated from the trains and there are no reports of anyone trapped.

Emergency services remain at the scene, while an investigation is under way to determine the cause of the accident.
