The Israeli army announced today that Gaza City is now considered a “dangerous combat zone”, though it has not called on Palestinians to evacuate immediately.
“From today (Friday) at 10:00 local time, the local tactical pause of military activity will no longer apply in the area of Gaza City, which is now a dangerous combat zone,” the army said in a statement.
The “local tactical pause”, introduced in late July and applied daily in Gaza City and other parts of the Palestinian enclave, was initially designed, according to the Israeli army, “to allow the safe passage of UN convoys” and humanitarian organisations operating in the Gaza Strip.
