Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos highlights Cyprus’ role in humanitarian, security and reconstruction efforts during meetings with Nickolay Mladenov and UAE officials

Cyprus’ contribution to international stabilisation efforts in Gaza was at the centre of high-level talks held in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, as Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos met with key regional and international interlocutors.

Focus On Gaza Stabilisation Efforts

According to a post on X, Kombos described his meeting with Nickolay Mladenov, High Representative for Gaza on US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, as “timely”, noting a constructive exchange of views.

The discussion focused on Cyprus’ active contribution to stabilisation efforts in Gaza, in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803. The Cypriot foreign minister underlined the country’s engagement across humanitarian assistance, security considerations and future reconstruction planning.

Cyprus has in recent months positioned itself as a key regional partner in humanitarian coordination and crisis response efforts related to Gaza, leveraging both its geographic location and diplomatic outreach.

Bilateral Talks With The UAE

During the same visit to Abu Dhabi, Kombos also held talks with Lana Nusseibeh, UAE State Minister for Europe.

In a separate post, the foreign minister said the two had a “substantial exchange” on key aspects of bilateral relations as well as broader international developments, reflecting the growing diplomatic engagement between Cyprus and the United Arab Emirates.

The meetings form part of Cyprus’ broader diplomatic push to remain actively involved in regional stability initiatives, while strengthening strategic partnerships beyond the Eastern Mediterranean.
