Israel’s Cabinet Secretary and close aide to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Yossi Fuchs, said that Israel intends to give Hamas a 60‑day deadline for complete disarmament. If the group fails to comply, he warned, the IDF (Israeli Defence Force) will “complete its mission” in Gaza through military means.

Speaking at a conference in Jerusalem, Fuchs said Hamas must surrender its entire arsenal, including light weapons such as AK‑47 rifles, noting that similar equipment was used in the 7 October attacks. He added that the precise start date of the 60‑day deadline has not yet been determined, leaving open the possibility that it may be linked to ongoing international consultations.

On Sunday, US President Donald Trump stated that Hamas must proceed with “full and immediate demilitarisation” ahead of the inaugural meeting of his Board of Peace initiative in Washington. According to the US President, participating parties have already pledged more than $5 billion for humanitarian aid and reconstruction in Gaza under a new security framework.

Meanwhile, the European Commission will take part in the talks as an observer, while Italy has signalled its readiness to contribute to the training of a new Palestinian police force. Indonesia, through President Prabowo Subianto, also announced it is preparing up to 1,000 troops for possible participation in a multinational stabilisation force, pending agreement.

Indonesia’s President explained that any deployment would occur only under an international mandate (e.g., UN‑authorized or via a multilateral agreement) and would require a ceasefire and a stable security environment. He emphasised there can be no meaningful stabilisation force without a clear arrangement on armed groups – namely demilitarisation and disarmament.
