A truck overturned on the Nicosia-Limassol highway near the Dali industrial area on Thursday afternoon, causing serious traffic disruption in both directions. Police said the truck overturned at around 4.30pm, spilling a large quantity of gravel it was carrying across the road.
The motorway toward Limassol has been closed as a result, while the opposite carriageway toward Nicosia also remains closed, with traffic being directed through the emergency lane.
Police are asking drivers heading toward Limassol to use the old Nicosia-Limassol road via the exit for the new Nicosia ring road, then rejoin the motorway at the Pera Chorio Nisou entrance. Officers are on site directing traffic, while efforts continue to remove the truck and clear the gravel from the road surface.
