If you've ever dreamed of getting paid to travel, this opportunity may fit the bill.
RiseGuide, a self-imvement app, is hiring a Global Charisma Scout to spend eight weeks travelling across Europe and documenting conversations with strangers. The successful applicant will receive $3,000 (€2,630) per month, with flights, accommodation and experiences covered by the company.
The role bears similarities to several other unconventional travel jobs that have attracted international attention in recent years, including the Barefoot Booksellers in the Maldives, the caretaker role on Ireland's Great Blasket Island, and a recently advertised room service critic and hotel robe researcher position.
Creating a European charisma index
The Global Charisma Scout will be tasked with assessing how easy it is to connect with people in different European cities.
Participants will be asked to rate locations based on factors such as warmth, friendliness, talkativeness and ease of approach. The findings will be used to create a European Charisma Index, identifying where it is easiest to start conversations with strangers.
Cities included in the project are:
- Rome
- Barcelona
- Lisbon
- Paris
- Dublin
- Athens
- Amsterdam
- Berlin
Who can apply?
According to RiseGuide, applicants should be:
- Energetic and outgoing
- Comfortable meeting new people
- Independent travellers
- Able to travel within the EU
- Willing to live out of a suitcase for two months
Knowledge of a second language will be considered an advantage.
How to apply
Applicants must submit:
- A CV
- A three- to four-minute video explaining why they would make a good Global Charisma Scout
- Links to public social media profiles such as Instagram or TikTok
Applications can be submitted through the official RiseGuide job posting:
