Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, stated that relations between Greece and Cyprus are currently at their highest level, during the New Democracy conference, on Saturday.

“The recognition of the very close ties between Greece and Cyprus, as a result of the self-evident act of support of the Republic of Cyprus by Greece, has acted as a catalyst so that the emotional bonds between Greece and Cyprus have never been stronger than they are now. And this is something that gives us great joy,” he said in response to the greeting of the President of the Republic of Cyprus in the conference.

Mitsotakis agreed with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides that bilateral relations between Greece and Cyprus have never been better, adding that there are very important joint initiatives to be undertaken within the framework of key discussions in the European Union.

“You know that Greece is Cyprus’ most steadfast ally in the ongoing effort to resolve the Cyprus issue. We must once again be present and finally close this wound that has been hurting Hellenism for 52 years,” the Greek Prime Minister concluded.
