A car was sprayed with bullets in the village of Agios Theodoros in Larnaca district, just hours after a separate vehicle belonging to a 28‑year‑old was destroyed by fire in an incident under investigation as arson.
According to initial information, unknown individuals opened fire at a vehicle in Agios Theodoros in a new incident now being investigated by police. At this stage, authorities say there is no confirmed link between the shooting and the car fire reported earlier in the same area.
Police are conducting examinations to determine the circumstances under which the shooting took place.
Earlier on Tuesday, police were mobilised after a fire broke out at around 4:40am in a vehicle parked in a field in the Agios Theodoros area. Members of the police and the Emergency Response Unit (EMAK) attended the scene and extinguished the blaze.
Investigations established that the vehicle belongs to a 28‑year‑old. Further inquiries carried out later in the morning led to the discovery of flammable material at the scene, with the case being treated as arson.
Investigations into the arson attack are continuing at the Kofinou regional police station.
