A woman was seriously injured in a knife attack at the Metropol supermarket in northern Nicosia at around 11.45am on Monday.
According to a statement by the Turkish Cypriot police, a man reportedly from Turkmenistan attacked the woman with a knife under circumstances that remain under investigation. He subsequently injured himself.
Police investigation continues
Both the woman and the alleged attacker were taken by ambulance to Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital, where they remain under treatment.
The motive has not yet been established, according to Turkish Cypriot media. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing.
