The fire that broke out on Saturday afternoon in the Trachoni area towards Asomatos in Limassol was brought under control at around 4:30pm, following a large-scale operation involving the Fire Service, the British Bases, Civil Defence and volunteer groups. Aircraft were also deployed to assist ground crews during the operation.

Firefighting forces focused on protecting residential properties threatened by the flames, successfully preventing the fire from spreading further. Three civilians were injured during the operation after attempting to defend their homes using garden hoses. Two sustained minor burns to their hands, while a third person experienced breathing difficulties. An ambulance was called to the scene.

Based on initial assessments by the Fire Service, the fire appears to have been caused by a lorry making contact with electricity cables belonging to the Electricity Authority of Cyprus.
