The administrations of the British Bases in Dhekelia and Akrotiri have been strengthened with four new patrol vehicles and modern operational equipment aimed at improving law enforcement, environmental protection and services to local communities, according to an announcement issued on Tuesday.
The statement said the four vehicles, which have already entered service, will be used by Compliance and Enforcement Officers during patrols to identify and address administrative and environmental offences.
At the same time, officers have been equipped with:
- Body cameras
- Digital cameras
- Protective vests
According to the announcement, Akrotiri Area Officer George Kiteos said the new vehicles and equipment represent a significant enhancement of the operational capabilities of enforcement teams.
Dhekelia Area Officer Maria Pieri-Kyriakidou said the addition of the new patrol vehicles constitutes a major upgrade for Compliance and Enforcement Officers and their ability to carry out their duties.
