The Houthis announced a series of attacks on military and energy targets in Saudi Arabia, including the Ministry of Defence in Riyadh, military aircraft and the Ras Tanura refinery. Saudi authorities said they intercepted two missiles launched towards the capital.
The Houthis’ military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, wrote on X that the fighters had targeted the Ministry of Defence building in Riyadh with a ballistic missile and that the missile “hit its target”.
Saudi authorities said they intercepted two missiles launched by the Houthis. Earlier, journalists from Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported hearing explosions in Riyadh.
In a separate statement, the Houthis said they had launched two ballistic missiles at military transport aircraft in southern Saudi Arabia. According to Saree, one aircraft was at Najran airport and the other at an airbase in Khamis Mushait.
The Houthis also announced that they had attacked the Ras Tanura oil refinery, Saudi Arabia’s largest.
They also claimed to have repelled an advance by Saudi-backed forces from the southern direction of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. They said ballistic missiles and heavy weapons had been used and that the opposing forces had suffered casualties. There was no immediate confirmation of these claims from the Saudi side.
