Democratic Rally (DISY) leader Annita Demetriou has rejected Haris Georgiades’ resignation as president of the Glafkos Clerides Institute, insisting that disagreements should be addressed through dialogue rather than resignations.
In a post, Demetriou made her position clear, stating: “Haris Georgiades’ resignation from the position of president of the Glafkos Clerides Institute is not accepted.”
“Problems are not resolved through resignations, but through dialogue, and that is what I will seek to pursue in the coming period,” she added.
Demetriou stresses party unity
Referring to her own position on the matter, the DISY leader said she had already made her stance clear, emphasising that her sole aim had been to safeguard unity within the party.
“My sole aim and motivation was the unity of the party, and it is my responsibility to act accordingly now as well,” she said.
Demetriou also called on DISY members and officials to put their differences aside and work collectively to strengthen the party’s position.
“What matters most is that we all rise above our differences and rally together to keep Democratic Rally on a winning course,” she said.
Party members to have the final say
Concluding her statement, Demetriou stressed that the final decision rests with the party’s members and that their verdict must be fully respected.
“We must recognise that the voice belongs to our people, and the verdict of our thousands of members must be fully respected,” she said.
