The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) has announced the continuation of its large-scale smart meter installation programme throughout August, with works scheduled in areas across Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Famagusta and Paphos.
According to EAC, the programme forms part of the ongoing replacement of conventional electricity meters with smart meters across Cyprus.
Nicosia
Works will focus on Strovolos, in the area bounded by:
- Athalassas Avenue
- Limassol Avenue
- John F. Kennedy Avenue
- Demosthenis Severis Avenue
- Strovolou Avenue
Limassol
Installations will take place in parts of Mesa Geitonia, including the area between:
- Makariou III Avenue
- Grigori Afxentiou Street
- Omirou Street
- Griva Digeni Avenue
- Georgiou Neophytou Street
- Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue
Additional works will be carried out in the area between:
- Makariou Avenue
- Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue
- Agiou Athanasiou Avenue
- The Nicosia-Limassol motorway
Larnaca
The programme will cover the area between:
- Artemidos Avenue
- Faneromenis Avenue
- Piale Pasha Street
extending to the boundaries of the Mackenzie beachfront area.
Famagusta District
Works will be carried out in Paralimni, including:
- Both sides of Akropoleos Street
- Agiou Dimitriou Street
- Along Griva Digeni Avenue
- The Konnos area
Paphos
Smart meter installations will continue in Yeroskipou, covering the area south of the Limassol-Paphos motorway up to Archbishop Makarios III Avenue, from the roundabout at the town entrance to Agia Marinouda.
Brief power cuts expected
EAC reminded customers that, for safety reasons, replacing existing meters requires a temporary interruption of electricity supply.
The authority said power outages are not expected to exceed 20 minutes and apologised for any inconvenience caused during the works.
