A hotel housekeeper has been arrested in Paphos following allegations that she used a master key to enter a guest room and steal gold jewellery.
According to police and hotel management, a foreign tourist reported that two gold items, with a combined value of approximately €1,000, had gone missing from her room while she was away.
Investigators subsequently established that a Romanian member of the hotel cleaning staff had used a master key, which provides access to all rooms, to enter the room.
Authorities said the room was not among those assigned to the employee for cleaning duties.
The woman was questioned by police and, according to information under investigation, admitted to the offence.
She was arrested and remains in custody.
The case is expected to be brought before the Paphos District Court on Thursday.
