Investigators found no grounds for criminal liability but identified administrative failures tied to the unit responsible for securing the site.

The criminal investigation by police and the administrative inquiry by the National Guard General Staff into the fire at the Kalo Chorio firing range have both concluded, with the Law Office of the Republic now expected to determine the next steps.

Investigations conclude, no criminal liability found

According to reliable information obtained by Politis, the investigation carried out so far indicates that there is no criminal liability for the fire at the Kalo Chorio firing range. What has emerged, however, is administrative liability connected to the 70th Engineering Battalion.

Battalion faces scrutiny over repeated security lapses

The unit had been responsible for securing the area, a task in which it failed, and this is reportedly not the first such lapse. According to the same information, 13.5 kilograms of explosives went missing from the same firing range in a recent, separate incident.

The matter will now be taken up by National Guard Chief Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou, who is expected to impose penalties.
