A 22-year-old man died after being pulled from the swimming pool of an apartment complex in the Famagusta district on Monday night. An autopsy carried out on Tuesday found that his death was caused by drowning in water, pending the results of laboratory tests.
According to police, the man was pulled from the pool at around 9.20pm. An ambulance was called to the scene and took him to the Accident and Emergency Department of Famagusta General Hospital, where the doctor on duty pronounced him dead.
The mandatory autopsy on the 22-year-old's body was carried out on Tuesday by forensic pathologist Dr Nicolas Charalambous. According to the autopsy's findings, the young man's death was caused by drowning in water, while laboratory test results are still awaited.
Paralimni Police Station is continuing its investigation into the case.
