The new installation will supply part of the electricity used by the Mia Milia Wastewater Treatment Plant, supporting a more sustainable operation of the facility. The project was financed by the European Union and constructed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
EU-funded solar project
The Nicosia District Local Government Organisation announced the development on Wednesday.
Connection works were coordinated and supervised by Mehmet Harmancı’s team, the organisation said.
Cutting energy use and costs
By harnessing solar energy, the park will meet part of the plant’s electricity needs while helping reduce the environmental impact of wastewater management infrastructure.
The Nicosia District Local Government Organisation said it would continue promoting projects that save energy, lower costs and contribute to environmental protection.
