The Blood Centre has issued a nationwide appeal for blood donations for a 19-year-old motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a road collision in Limassol in the early hours of Wednesday.
The teenager remains hospitalised with multiple serious injuries, with blood requirements described as significant.
According to police, the 19-year-old was riding his motorcycle along Nikaias Avenue at around 1am when, under circumstances that remain under investigation, he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
He was transported by ambulance to Limassol General Hospital, where doctors determined that he had sustained:
- Multiple fractures.
- Pulmonary contusions.
His condition is described as serious and he remains under medical care.
Police said the motorcyclist underwent a breathalyser test, which produced a zero alcohol reading.
Motorcycle disappears from crash scene
At the same time, police are investigating the disappearance of the motorcycle itself.
According to the authorities, the vehicle was removed from the scene by unknown individuals shortly after the collision.
Efforts are under way to locate the motorcycle, while investigators continue to examine both the circumstances of the crash and the subsequent removal of the vehicle.
The investigation is being handled by the Limassol Traffic Department.
