A fire broke out in Koutsovendis, in the north, on Sunday morning and continues to burn, with smoke spreading across the area.
The fire is visible from several parts of Nicosia.
According to reports from the north, the blaze started at a waste disposal site at around 8.30am.
Fire engines and personnel are responding to the incident, while machinery belonging to a private company is also being used in efforts to extinguish the fire.
Further details on the cause of the blaze were not immediately available.
