A fire broke out at a mud-brick house in Engomi on Saturday, prompting a major response from the Fire Service. The occupants noticed the blaze in time and evacuated safely.
Roof extensively damaged
Three staffed fire engines from Nicosia fire stations were deployed to the scene, according to the Fire Service.
No one was placed in danger during the evacuation.
The fire caused extensive damage to the building’s roof, while crews continued working with specialist equipment to fully extinguish the remaining pockets of fire.
The cause will be investigated once the operation has been completed, provided the building is structurally safe enough for investigators to enter.
