The Fire Service was mobilised on Friday afternoon to put out a fire at an abandoned hotel in the Germasogeia area, while the possibility of arson is being investigated.
According to the Fire Service, the fire broke out shortly after noon, and two fire engines from the Agios Nikolaos Fire Station responded to extinguish it.
The fire burned discarded materials in the building's stairwell and was brought under control.
Following a search carried out by Fire Service personnel, no one was found trapped inside the building, the statement added.
In cooperation with the Police, the Fire Service is investigating the possibility of arson by unknown individuals, the statement concluded.
