Average rainfall recorded in the government-controlled areas stood at 89% of the normal figure for the month by Friday morning, according to data from the Department of Meteorology, with many areas recording considerably higher amounts than usual.
Specifically, since 1 September, average rainfall in the government-controlled areas has reached 4 millimetres, against a normal figure of 4.5 millimetres for the month. Notably, 3.3 of the 4 millimetres recorded fell in the last 24 hours alone.
The highest amount was recorded at Larnaca Airport, with 26 millimetres, 15 times the usual amount for the month. Pano Panagia followed with 19.4 millimetres, almost four times the normal figure, and Prodromos with 10.6 millimetres, close to the normal amount for the month.
By contrast, zero rainfall was recorded at Limassol's new port, in Kellaki and in Lythrodontas.
With the hydrological year drawing to a close, average rainfall recorded in the government-controlled areas from 1 October 2025 to the morning of 18 September reached 613.1 millimetres, or 122% of the normal figure for the period.
