Former Foreign Minister Yiannakis Kasoulides is in mourning after his wife, Emy Kasoulides, died today at the age of 76, following a long battle with cancer.
News of her death has brought sadness to her family and to those who knew her, with Kasoulides bidding farewell to the woman who stood by his side for decades, in a shared life that remained away from the public eye.
Her funeral will take place on Tuesday, 22 September, at 10am, at the Konstantinou and Elenis Cemetery. The family will receive condolences from 9am.

Emy Kasoulides was a doctor, an anaesthesiologist. Despite her husband's long and particularly intense political career, she chose to keep a low profile and stand quietly by his side, both through difficult moments and significant milestones in his life and political career.
Yiannakis and Emy Kasoulides had one daughter, Ioanna. Family life remained an especially personal part of the former Foreign Minister's life, despite his many years at the forefront of Cypriot political life.
She had been fighting her own battle with cancer for years. She underwent surgery, followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy, continuing to work even through the difficult days of treatment. Two years later came a second, even harsher blow, when tumours were found in her uterus and ovary, requiring her to undergo chemotherapy and intensive radiotherapy once again. Despite the pain and the exhausting treatments, Emy Kasoulides spoke with remarkable composure about her ordeal, choosing to enjoy every moment and life's small daily pleasures.
