Paphos Municipal Council has approved the renaming of Kemal Atatürk Street in the Mouttalos quarter, paving the way for the official adoption of a new name.
During a council meeting held on Monday, members voted by majority to change the street's name to “Memory and Hope” (Mnimis kai Elpidas).
The proposal was approved by the majority of councillors, with acting Paphos mayor Angelos Onisiforou also supporting the change.
The municipal groups of DIKO and AKEL abstained from the vote.
The decision followed discussion of the proposal before the Municipal Council and clears the way for the official renaming of the street in the Mouttalos neighbourhood.
