The Limassol District Committee of AKEL has strongly condemned incidents of racism and attacks targeting food delivery workers in the city.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the committee described such attitudes and behaviour as inhumane and extreme, stressing that the workers are earning a living and that no one has the right to take the law into their own hands and attack them.
AKEL Limassol said the city has traditionally been welcoming and characterised by multicultural coexistence and respect for every person, regardless of colour, race or religion.
The party organisation said it rejects and condemns such incidents, adding that it is sending a clear message against far-right attitudes and behaviour.
It further stated that it will continue to monitor developments and strengthen efforts against violence, racism and what it described as intolerant far-right policies.
The district committee called on the competent authorities, the police and local authorities to tackle such incidents, protect anyone at risk and uphold the principles, values and ideals that promote human dignity.
The statement was dated 6 October 2026.
