Two Ukrainian nationals blame delivery driver, say he attacked first.

Police have identified and questioned two Ukrainian men who allegedly assaulted a food delivery rider on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue on Friday afternoon (2 October), after footage of the incident was widely circulated online.

The two men were located after police launched an investigation following the publication of footage by RoadReportCY and its subsequent coverage by several media outlets. They were questioned by authorities and later released.

According to information obtained by police, the two men claimed in their statements that the delivery rider had attacked them first following a traffic-related dispute.

Claims not adding up

The men reportedly told police that the rider had been in front of them and prevented them from proceeding. They further alleged that he verbally abused and struck them.

However, it remains unclear how the delivery rider could have physically attacked the two men while they were inside their vehicle, as claimed.

The two men subsequently got out of their car in the middle of the road, briefly obstructing traffic, before allegedly launching an assault on the delivery rider. The incident was filmed by a member of the public, with the footage circulating widely online over the past 24 hours.

Efforts underway to locate delivery driver

Police are investigating possible offences including conspiracy to commit a misdemeanour and assault causing actual bodily harm.

The two men have not been formally charged, and no case has been filed before the court at this stage. However, police proceedings remain open and further action has not been ruled out.

Authorities are continuing efforts to locate the delivery rider so that he can provide his own account of what happened.

The rider has not yet been located and remains unavailable to police for questioning.
