Fire crews and Department of Forests units worked with a hired bulldozer to contain the blaze, which broke out on Friday afternoon.

A fire that broke out on Friday afternoon between the communities of Choletria and Fasoula in Paphos district has been brought under control, after burning through one hectare of dry grass and wild vegetation. Fire Service spokesman Andreas Kettis said in a post on X that three manned fire engines from the Fire Service took part in the operation, supported by two manned fire engines from the Department of Forests and a hired bulldozer, which was used to cut firebreaks and keep the flames from spreading further into the surrounding countryside.

Cause under investigation

Authorities have not yet established how the fire started, and the causes are being investigated, Kettis said.
