Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Michalis Damianos is departing for Athens on Tuesday evening, where he will attend the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) and HELLENiQ ENERGY conference on Wednesday.
The conference focuses on accelerating the implementation of the Eastern Mediterranean energy corridor, under the title "Accelerating the Eastern Mediterranean as an energy corridor: From dialogue to corridor realisation."
According to a statement by the Ministry, on the sidelines of the conference Damianos will hold separate meetings with Greece’s Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, and Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi. A trilateral meeting with the two counterparts will also take place.
Damianos will also participate in a discussion involving ministers and industry representatives entitled «Strategic Voices Shaping the Eastern Mediterranean Energy Corridor». The discussion will examine the prospects for exploiting the Eastern Mediterranean’s energy resources and the further development of the region as an energy corridor.
The Energy Minister will return to Cyprus on Wednesday afternoon, 7 October 2026, the statement concludes.
