Crude prices slipped after Donald Trump said the US is holding "constructive talks" with Iran and ruled out military action before November's midterm elections.

Oil prices fell on Friday after US President Donald Trump said Washington was engaged in "constructive talks" with Iran and would not launch an attack against the country before November's US midterm elections.

The comments eased concerns over potential disruptions to Middle East oil supplies, reversing some of the gains seen earlier this week.

Brent crude futures fell 1.1% to $103.09 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude also dropped 1.1% to $90.55 per barrel.

Oil prices had surged on Thursday following reports that the United States could launch further strikes against Iran before the elections, fuelling fears over supply risks.

Despite Friday's decline, Brent remained slightly higher on the week, while WTI was marginally lower compared with last week's levels.
