Rainfall in Cyprus has reached 220% of normal levels for May so far, with several areas recording more than three times the average rainfall for the month.
From 1 May until Monday, average rainfall in the government-controlled areas stood at 43.2 millimetres, compared with the monthly average of 19.6 millimetres.
The highest level compared with the norm was recorded at Paphos airport, where rainfall reached 394% of the monthly average. Polis Chrysochous followed with 375%, Stavros tis Psokas with 364%, and Limassol new port with 360%.
In absolute terms, the highest rainfall since the start of the month was recorded at Stavros tis Psokas, with 99 millimetres. The lowest was recorded at Larnaca airport, with 13.6 millimetres.
For the period from 1 October to date, average rainfall now stands at 116% of normal levels, with all areas exceeding 100% of the seasonal average.
Specifically, average rainfall in the government-controlled areas from 1 October until Monday reached 566.3 millimetres, compared with the normal average of 487 millimetres for the period.
