Friends of the Earth Cyprus to Host Climate Justice Week 10–15 June

Friends of the Earth Cyprus is organising its Climate Justice Week from 10 to 15 June 2026, offering a series of free workshops, public discussions and community events.

At a time when democracy, the environment and rights face mounting challenges, collective organising takes on added importance, the organisation says. Climate justice, it argues, is not only about protecting the environment but about who has a voice, who is most affected by the climate crisis and who participates in decision-making.

The week's programme includes Environmental Democracy workshops, presentations, policy discussions, a Climate Justice Forum, cycling activities and a documentary screening. Civil society organisations, citizens, young people, academics, experts and local government representatives will have the opportunity to exchange experiences and develop proposals on environmental democracy, energy justice and mobility justice.

All events are free and require registration. The full programme and registration links are available at foecyprus.org/climate-justice-week-2026.

Climate Justice Week is being implemented under the project "Towards an Open, Fair and Sustainable Europe in the World - EU Presidency Programme 2024–2026," co-funded by the European Union and implemented by Global Focus, Grupa Zagranica, CARDET and CONCORD, the European Confederation of NGOs working on sustainable development and international cooperation. Project number: 2024/459-484.

The project "Expanding Democratic Space for Environmental Civil Society" is being implemented under the PLATO programme by Friends of the Earth Cyprus. PLATO is co-funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme, the Bodossaki Foundation and the NGO Support Centre, with a total grant of €3.1 million.
