Dozens of volunteers took part in a major clean-up campaign at the park on Glyfadas Street in Paphos on Saturday, 4 July, following an initiative by the City Friends Club.

Large quantities of rubbish were collected during the campaign, including waste that had remained hidden across the site for years. Organisers said the findings underlined the need for greater environmental awareness and the continued care of public spaces.

The Chloraka Cultural and Environmental Association also participated in the initiative, strengthening its cooperation with the City Friends Club on environmental protection projects.

Andreas Kyriacou, speaking on behalf of the association, thanked the City Friends Club for its continued contribution to cleanliness, the protection of the natural environment and the improvement of the local community’s quality of life.

He also praised foreign residents of all ages who joined the campaign, saying their participation demonstrated that volunteering, cooperation and respect for nature are a shared responsibility.

Organisers called on the public to protect the natural environment, adopt more responsible habits and contribute to keeping public areas clean and safe. They stressed that environmental protection requires collective action and is essential for a better future.
